HealthCo continues to build its sales team with talented professionals, and our newest team member—Morgan Pratt—is happy to be on the field at a fast-paced healthcare IT company. Morgan joins HealthCo from Portland-based Clinicient, an EMR software provider for physical therapists. Prior to Clinicient, Morgan received her degree in Public Health fromOregon State University.
“I have loved working with computers since I was young, and my mom built a career in clinic administration,” says Morgan. “I was exposed to things like ‘payers’ and Medicare at an early age.” Morgan studied epidemiology—the analysis of disease origins and how they spread—at OSU. “I found the work fascinating and am excited to stay focused on healthcare in my role at HealthCo!” Today, she’s learning about data science and more on the job by diving into Centricity’s scheduling modules, charts, and add-on features.
When Morgan is away from the office, she can be found at CorePower yoga or out with friends. She has a fraternal twin sister in San Diego, she loves to play volleyball and watch her beloved OSU Beavers and Denver Broncos play. At work, Morgan is busy introducing herself to clients across the Midwest region and throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Hear from Morgan directly in this quick Q&A:
Q. How are all the Oregon Ducks at HealthCo treating you?
A. Haha! So far, so good… my Beavs flag has only been messed with a handful of times. Maybe they’re holding back a bit as a result from the Civil War…? *cough* Go Beavs! *cough*.
Q. Educate us on pop culture icons in 2017 please…who do you love?
A. Music: my favorite genres are alternative and electronica (EDM). My channels on SiriusXM are Alt-Nation (36), BPM (51), Chill (53), and SiriusXMU Indie (35). My boyfriend loves country music, so I have unwillingly been exposed to it and now it’s starting to catch on to me. The things we do for our loved ones…
I normally go to small venue concerts because large crowds scare me, and I’ve seen a couple DJs while in Vegas. I did see Justin Bieber in concert, not because I like him, but because my best friend forced me to go. I actually had a blast, lol.
TV shows: American Horror Story, The Affair, Westworld, Shameless, Game of Thrones, Dexter, Girls, and South Park. I also like nature documentaries like Planet Earth and Cosmos.
I’m obsessed with BuzzFeed and Tasty (those awesome videos with step by step instructions to make delicious meals, yet I still manage to screw something up).
Q. What is the last best book you read and why?
A. Just finished up The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer and I LOVED it. I find her so intriguing because she’s hilarious, unapologetically honest about social issues in today’s world, and she isn’t afraid to “go there”.
Q. STEM was a big part of your education and upbringing. What is your recommendation for high school girls who want a career in technology?
A. Don’t let the stereotypes of male-dominant industries prevent you from exploring your options as a career. I was consistently underestimated by my fellow peers and classmates in college, but it gave me the motivation to show that I’m just as good, if not better, than they were at their own game. Never feel sorry for voicing your opinion or input, and do not give up after your first mistake. If we all did, we’d never make it out of bed in the morning! Just know that you are gifted and can accomplish anything you put your mind and heart to. Work hard, play harder!
Q. What or who inspires you?
A. My parents (who had my sister and me at a young age) have shown us throughout our lives that there’s nothing holding us back from taking on the world and making our own. And my sister McKenzie inspires me to be a better person every day and to be true to myself regardless of what others think.
Q. What’s your favorite Portland food cart?
A. It’s impossible to have a favorite! They’re all amazing.
